East Bay Community Action Program Education Coordinator Mary V. Quirk School in Warren, Rhode Island

East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) seeks an Education Coordinator to join our team in the Head Start program at Mary V. Quirk School, 790 Main Street, Warren RI. The Education Coordinator works with the Director of Education to support the classroom practices of the teaching staff and the needs and development of the children and will oversee State-funded Pre-K staff and classes.

The Education Coordinator will supervise Lead Teachers, Associate Teachers, Teacher Assistants, and On-Call staff to ensure compliance with the implementation of Head Start Program Performance Standards, RI Child Day Care Center Regulations for Licensing, RI Department of Education Early Learning Standards, EBCAP Head Start/Early Head Start Program Plan, EBCAP Personnel Policies, Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS and Incredible Years), The Creative Curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices (DAP) as defined by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

The Education Coordinator will promote continuous program improvement through observation and evaluation, feedback and planning, support, modeling, and training of assigned educational staff to provide optimal learning experiences for the children. He/she must have excellent presentation skills, superior leadership, and demonstrated management skills to effectively communicate with staff, parents, children, community representatives, and volunteers professionally and respectfully. Bi-lingual ability is a plus, however, it is not required.

The Education Coordinator must have one of the following:

  • A current Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Early Childhood Education Certificate (PreK - Grade 2) OR

``` - A current Rhode Island Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Teacher-Early Childhood Special Education Certificate (Birth-Grade 2), which includes Early Childhood Education Certification OR

``` - A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field such as Child Development, Elementary Education, or Special Education with 24 credits in Early Childhood Early Education from an accredited or approved institution of higher education.

In addition, the position requires:

  1. A minimum of 2 years of early childhood education classroom teaching experience AND
  2. A 3-credit college course or a minimum of 40 documented hours of professional development over 2 years in mentoring, supervision, and leadership OR an individual professional development plan not to exceed 2 years from the date of employment for achieving this requirement AND
  3. A Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standard certificate relevant to this position OR an individual professional development plan not to exceed 2 years from the date of employment for achieving this requirement.
