What you’ll be doing

The Senior Consultant is a key member of the Public Affairs team, which focuses on enhancing and protecting CIBC’s reputation through media and public relations, investor and financial communications, and issues management. In this role, you will develop and execute external communications that promote CIBC’s capabilities, insight, advice, reputation and corporate story. You report to the Senior Director, Public Affairs, and will work with partners across the bank.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you’ll succeed

  • Strategic Communications – You know what is “news” and apply strong analytical and media relations skills in developing stellar communications strategies, media releases, social content and key messages.

  • Reputation and Brand Management – You proactively gather facts and apply solid judgment in managing media opportunities and issues.

  • Public Relations – You play a key role in external efforts to promote CIBC’s client-focused business initiatives and consumer research, as well as subject experts in the areas of personal finance, wealth/asset management, economics and organizational effectiveness.

Who you are

  • You have demonstrated experience in media relations, social media and managing complex communication challenges. It’s an asset if you have experience in and/or knowledge of banking and its diversified client segments.

  • You have a degree/diploma in Journalism, Communications or related study and/or equivalent experience.
