The opportunity

As the Senior Director and Head of FP&A for global R&D, you'll be instrumental in leading all financial processes and analysis, providing strategic direction for the R&D pipeline that aligns with our company strategy. You will support strategic decisions to drive the organization to achieve its short term and long-term objectives.

This role is pivotal in boosting speed, flexibility, accuracy, quality, and alignment across all R&D functions, driving transformation and delivering greater value to our organization.

How you’ll spend your day

  • Lead and manage all financial processes, from monthly/quarterly closing to rolling forecasts and long-range planning (LRP), ensuring adherence to reporting timelines, enhancing forecast accuracy, and proposing necessary corrective measures.

  • Manage labor economics for global R&D, standardizing and improving resource planning and Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs) allocations to projects in collaboration with HR and program leadership.

  • Constantly challenge existing processes to promote process automation, digitization, and optimization, partnering with IT to improve planning and reporting systems for faster delivery of financial results and predictive analysis.

  • Work with Global Finance to ensure compliance with all relevant external and internal accounting, tax, and finance-related regulations, fostering accountability in forecasting and monitoring cash flow.

  • Supervise and consolidate capital expenditures plans.

  • Mine and utilize financial data to generate insights and flags for real-time business decision-making.

  • Serve as a liaison between corporate functions, other business units, and local teams, fostering collaboration and alignment.

  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of five finance professionals, empowering them to excel and contribute to the success of our organization.

Your experience and qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance / accounting, MBA

  • 15+ years of experience in senior finance roles in a major company or division of a large public corporation (healthcare or global pharmaceutical company will be an advantage).

  • Advantage - Knowledge and understanding of the R&D pharmaceutical industry.

  • Advanced knowledge of FP&A - budgeting and forecasting processes and expense management

  • 5+ years of significant managerial experience

  • Strategic thinking with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Advanced process skills to manage and improve complex cross functional processes.

  • Experience in partnering with an executive team.

  • Advantage - Knowledge of SAC

  • Fluent written and spoken English.

  • Travel Requirements: limited international travel
