The COMMS Engineer carries out systems engineering, analysis, design, implementation, verification, and validation for Communication Systems ( Data Communication Network, Telephony, CCTV, PA, PIDS, AFILS, Clock etc)rail projects. They analyze the communications requirements in consultation with the System and design leads. They design the communications system and its interfaces, may be involved in overseeing the installation and test, and prepare necessary technical documentation as part of system delivery.

You will:

  • Ensure quality, completeness and consistency of the work results and deliverables,

  • Comply with the defined processes, guidelines and project-specific requirements;

  • Comply with deadlines and costs with respect to their activities in the project.

  • Analyze the customer requirements (specifications, scenarios, rules, interoperability etc.) related to the COMMS;

  • Analyze the COMMS requirements with respect to non-existent, unclear / contradictory or unreasonable requirements, compilation of any assumptions as a substitute for non-existent requirements, and initia-tion of a speedy, binding clarification of such requirements with the customer via the SMiP.

  • Define and create the COMMS architecture as part of the overall system architecture (interfaces, sys-tem-internal and -external, RAMS, risk analysis);

  • Consider the operational conditions (safety, environment, standards, interoperability etc.) of the used subsystems / components in design of the COMMS architecture.

  • Carry out allocated work packages and report progress to the WPM, such as:

  • Analyze and evaluate all communications-related requirements within the project scope to client, statuto-ry specifications and relevant standards.

  • Plan and manage of vital and non-vital communications design within project scope to customer, statuto-ry specifications and relevant standards.

  • Contact for the SMiP and / or WPM on technical issues for COMMS and reporting to the SMiP and / or WPM about implementation progress.

  • Analyses and supervises the fulfillment of their work package with regards to functional, technical and time-related goals, also checks the quality of process and results.

  • Involve R&D, internal and external subsystem suppliers and interface partners as and when needed

  • Use the resources and tools that are available in the organisation

  • Bachelor degree (or higher) in technology areas of telecommunications, electronics railway, electrical or related disciplines.

  • Proven experience in in communication design and implementation for the delivery of complex systems projects on Rail Systems Projects

  • Experience with communications systems engineering on a variety of projects.
