We are looking for an experienced WW Head of Paid Customer Acquisition to lead customer-obsessed, data-driven, and scalable acquisition marketing solutions to help customers around the world discover more books, authors, benefits, and content/offers they will love, regardless of format (e.g. Kindle, print, audio). We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-directed, data-driven Acquisition lead, who will create and execute innovative, performance campaigns that accelerates user acquisition and activation. We are looking for a highly creative, analytical and results-oriented candidate who will work across Amazon and Books teams, influencing and leading partners to think big, invent and simplify, and deliver on project roadmaps across paid channels to acquire new customers. This role will be responsible for standing up new acquisition marketing programs, testing aggressively, and prioritizing initiatives to scale acquisition marketing efforts.

A successful candidate for this role will have experience in acquisition marketing – ranging across search marketing, digital display advertising, and social media performance marketing. This role requires the ability to define our paid media growth strategy, deep-dive on cohort analysis, set customer-centric campaign goals, provide excellent project management skills, establish a deep and current knowledge of each platform’s unique offerings, maintain a keen eye for compelling and innovative content, and possess a passion for continuous improvement. This person will need to have an entrepreneurial nature to try new and different things with minimal direction, a drive for testing and learning as well as the ability to prioritize effectively and balance data-driven with instinct-driven decisions.

This role will manage the performance marketing team, with the responsibility of driving customer acquisition across print, digital books, and services such as Kindle Unlimited. Candidate should also have experience leading and developing high-performing teams, will be independent, creative problem-solver with great business acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to lead multiple teams and projects simultaneously, while managing competing deadlines. You will have strong marketing, program management and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work independently under time constraints to deliver results. Given the complexity of the role, it will also be important to be operationally strong – managing a large number of relationships, dependencies, and timelines across many teams. Success in this role requires a strong bias for action, and the ability to execute daily at the highest level.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute a strategy to drive new customer acquisition through digital channels

  • Define KPIs and effectively optimize channel execution, while identifying tactics with high efficiency and incrementality

  • Lead detailed analysis of campaign effectiveness, including acquisition results, creative targeting, and cohort analysis

  • Continuously raise the bar on attribution metrics and develop new/better standards to effectively measure campaign success

  • Drive day-to-day channel operations in tandem with assisting in the development of the channel’s long-term strategy

  • Stay current with social, display, mobile and overall digital marketing best practices

  • Reporting on progress against goals and relevant marketing metrics.

  • Liaise with international teams to share best practices and testing plans.

  • Own key business metrics, support in-depth business reviews and present to senior executives.

Basic Qualifications

  • 9+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience

  • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements

  • Experience with Excel or Tableau (data manipulation, macros, charts and pivot tables)

  • Experience communicating results to senior leadership

  • Experience building, executing and scaling cross-functional marketing programs

  • Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working cross-functionally and driving decision making among stakeholders with competing goals

  • Experience with various types of research methodologies is key, including quant, qual, 1P & 3P data, trend analysis & forecasting, etc.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $119,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
