Job Summary:

The formulator is responsible for making brine for our production lines within customer specifications. Re-stocking the formulation room with ingredients. Cleaning of formulation tanks and room. Brine batch documentation in PLEX and on paper (double verification needed). Emulsion mixing in PLEX and physically. Vinegar tank changes physically and in PLEX. Salt silo changes physically and in PLEX. Brine titration to assure customer specifications. Relish formulation when needed.

Schedule -- Monday through Friday from 5am to 3pm. Flexibility for business needs; the employee may be required to work daily overtime and Saturday or Sunday based supporting production needs.

Benefits -- Medical, dental and vision; STD, LTD and Life company paid; 401k with company match. Employee pays only 15% of medical cost at $15.80/week for Single and $47.39/week for Family coverage (2023 Rates). Company contributes HSA dollars annually of $1,000 for a Single and $2,000 for a Family.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Follow all plant policies and practices to ensure safety, quality, and cost objectives are met.
  • Operate a variety of mixing/blending equipment as needed.
  • Perform various quality checks and clean and change-over of equipment.
  • Make brine for production lines with the correct salt levels (get salt level from lead lab tech when running pickles).
  • Verify brine formulation by titration check.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory through activities such as: proper reporting of material usage, minimizing wastes, and ensuring that measuring devices are properly calibrated.
  • Maintain accurate ingredient levels in Plex to what is physically on hand, true up, scrap as needed
  • Send brine to appropriate production lines and set brine levels according to customer specifications prior to line start up.
  • Make up lixate tubs for sort off pickles as needed.
  • Re-stock formulation room for next shift, pre-batch brine.
  • Clean formulation tanks, briner systems and room.
  • Change vinegar tanks, and salt silo's as needed.
  • Clean out vinegar and salt silo filters
  • Check incoming vinegar acid levels
  • Communicate to quality, production supervisor and team lead.
  • Formulate relish when needed.
  • Create SDS labels as needed.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1 + years production experience required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Strong, logical decision making skills.

Experience with time management and multitasking.

Exhibit sense of ownership and accountability.

Strong attention to detail.

Strong math skills; basic calculations to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, basic percent's and fractions.

Demonstrated comfort with data entry and basic computer skills.

Should have good verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to efficiently coordinate work with co-workers and take directions from superiors.
