CMU MEDICAL EDUCATION PARTNERS Accountant in SAGINAW, Michigan
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Performs accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger accounting activities; Maintains a uniform accounting system; Prepares financial reports; Participates in annual audit; Performs related accounting and clerical work as required.
- Prepares income statement, asset, liability, and capital account entries.
- Documents financial transactions by entering account information.
- Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
- Assists in the preparation of balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.
- Substantiates financial transactions by reviewing support documents and reconciling G/L accounts.
- Reconciles financial discrepancies.
- Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
- Prepares payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
- Manages IRS Form W9 and 1099 reporting.
- Prepares invoices/billings per contracts and as otherwise needed.
- Receipts payments and reconciles outstanding invoices.
- Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions.
- Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
- Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information.
- Maintains customer confidence by keeping financial information accurate.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Three years' experience in an accounting position preferred.
- Skilled in the utilization of current accounting software packages.
- Must have Word and Excel training and experience.
- Must possess strong organizational and planning skills.
