Job Summary:

The Behavioral Services Coordinator has primary responsibility to coordinate special education, behavioral, and mental health services to support the content area managers. This position integrates child and family information and manages systems to ensure that childrens needs are met. This position also supports communication systems between families, schools, providers, mental health, and special education. As a member of the Rutland County Head Start Coordinated Services team, the Behavioral Services Coordinator is responsible for ensuring compliance, developing program capacity, and building program excellence. This position reports to the Head Start Director. This position is a per diem position up to 20 hours per week with a flexible schedule.

Minimum Qualifications:

Preferred: minimum of a bachelors degree in special education, disabilities, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech and language pathology, child development, or related field.

Minimum of three (3) years experience working with special needs or young children with special needs and their families. Experience must include at least one (1) year of administrative or management experience which includes program planning, organizing, and staff training and supervision.

Certifications in CPR/ First Aid

Must have a valid drivers license, reliable transportation with personal automobile liability insurance coverage at or above the levels mandated by the State of Vermont.

Family Support Specialists are responsible for:

Recruitment and Registration for Children and Families

Scheduling, Coordination, and Facilitation of Parent Committee Meetings.

Meeting with the classroom team for Family Conferencing to ensure coordinated family engagement strategies with children and families in the classroom, home and community.

Working with families to strengthen their support networks and connections with other parents and community members who can address families strengths, interests, and challenges.
