At Daikin Applied, as the Mechanical Engineer - Test Lab, you will work in a large R&D laboratory evaluating the performance of new products and technologies. Test Engineers work on a team providing subject matter expertise to build and improve test facilities involving mechanical and electrical systems, data acquisition, and control/automation. We provide support to DAA Lab initiatives to prepare the equipment, people, and processes to support the development of products and technologies across DAA's portfolio by performing the following duties listed below. A Day in the Life: Learn and apply technical skills related to mechanical and electrical HVAC systems toward new product development engineering activities Act as primary technical resource for troubleshooting issues with test cells, instrumentation, data acquisition software, and test units. Create technical project plans for new or upgrades to existing capital test equipment. Work with cross-functional project teams to ensure testing expectations are clearly defined and communicated. Champion data collection process, from acquiring signals to data verification & reporting Provide technical oversight as required for general testing activities to ensure the highest level of quality and integrity of result. Implement laboratory process improvements as related to productivity, metrics, and continuous improvement. Review and comprehend external testing standards & how they apply to internal testing procedures. Develop new testing methodologies for incorporation into existing Daikin testing methods and procedures. Coordinate activities with product engineers and a team of technicians. Lead and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Analyze and interpret data from test results. Continuously develops existing technical expertise and expands into other areas as needs of the organization dictate. The ability to make an impact and shape your career with a company that is passionate about growth The support of an organization that believes it is vital to include and engage diverse people, perspectives, and ideas to achieve our best What you will Bring: Minimum Education Requirements Education Level: 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree from ABET accredited institution Minimum Experience Number of Years: 0 Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Education/Experience: Bachelor or Master of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution, preferably in Mechanical Engineering Formal coursework in the areas of measurement systems, heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, machine design, and strength of materials Proficient with fundamentals of instrumentation, including RTDs, thermocouples, pressure transducers, flow meters, and analog/digital data acquisition. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required Ability to multitask & reprioritize tasks frequently Ability to effectively coordinate and communicate with vendors to perform work and services relating to mechanical/electrical facility systems Must be ab e to work cooperatively and effectively with laboratory, design, and product marketing teams HVAC equipment experience/understanding desired LabVIEW experience and/or certification desired Experience with PLC and PID controllers desired Experience working in R&D center/lab setting desired Why You'll Love Working for Daikin: We're a group who operates with a people-centered mindset, believing in the unlimited potential of each employee, with a goal of driving our company to its fullest potential.
