Wolters Kluwer Senior Technology Product Manager in Montpelier, Vermont

OVERVIEW

As part of the Wolters Kluwer Health Clinical Effectiveness team, the Senior Technology Product Manager - Payer Role for UpToDate represents the voice of the market and is responsible for discovering, validating, and delivering key product initiatives targeted to the Payer segment. This dual-facing role will be the bridge between the market and engineering teams and will focus on identifying opportunities to leverage UpToDate’s leading clinical content and expertise to meet emerging needs within the Payer space.

This position will partner with key internal stakeholders across the organization and within the Payer & Commercial segments to support the product lifecycle; from strategy development, product initiation through delivery, and retirement(s).

LOCATION: Waltham, MA or Remote (WFH)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position will focus on establishing a deep understanding of the healthcare Payer segment with a concentration on identifying and understanding market pain points.

  • Work closely with customers, clinical and commercial subject matter experts, engineering, and sales to define segment-specific (Payer) product strategies.

  • Provide guidance on hypothesis development, key measures, and approaches to test and validate hypotheses with users. Conduct rapid experiments, prototyping, and other learning activities to move concepts through the development lifecycle and inform go/no go/pivot decisions.

  • Manage existing packaging and product offering for the Payer segment, provide data-driven decisions, prioritize new investments and tradeoffs, and grow product value.

  • Define market personas, use-cases, adoption targets, ROI metrics, and product success criteria.

  • Create business cases and interact with technical product owners and/or development teams to ensure vision is translated into actionable and accurate requirements.

  • Conduct ongoing market and competitive landscape research and present findings to internal stakeholders.

  • Curate relationships with customers and be able to represent the ‘voice of the customer’ for product and engineering activities.

  • Drive collaboration and coordination with cross functional stakeholders and business leaders to execute the broader product strategy.

  • Manage the overall success of your product areas throughout the product lifecycle, facilitate feedback activities and drive continuous improvement activities.

J OB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, healthcare, or equivalent field preferred.

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in business strategy, product development, or product management with a healthcare company.

  • Experience working with or developing products for healthcare payer organizations.

  • Expertise in market assessment, strategic planning, & business case development

  • Strong verbal and written communication; excellent client interaction skills

  • Ability to influence across multiple layers of the organization; this is a high-profile position with significant exposure to senior leadership

  • Ability to advocate for the customer and the product to internal and external stakeholders

  • Strong project management skills, ability to define project goals and deliverables with limited guidance

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgement, make decisions in changing environment, prioritizing tasks & backlogs, and being able to work on multiple projects at the same time

Preferred Experience:

  • Clinical background as a nurse practitioner, physician assistant, nurse, or pharmacist is preferred.

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES OR CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of the drivers of healthcare revenue, cost, and profitability

  • Demonstrated business case development experience.

  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing the product lifecycle

  • Demonstrated experience in the development of products and successful product launches

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with partners, customers, and peers

  • Knowledgeable about navigating matrix managed organizations

  • Ability to effectively operate with moderate levels of ambiguity — manage change, decide, and act without having the total picture, comfort with handling risk and uncertainty

  • Strong leadership skills with focus on producing results

  • Proficient formal presentation and facilitation skills, including executive c-level audiences.

  • Good negotiator, planner, and decision-making skills. Accurately scopes out projects, sets objectives, and goals, develops schedules and resource assignments, and measures performance against goals.

  • Demonstrates strong initiative and self-motivation.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and demonstrating effective capacity management

  • Passion for continual improvement, soliciting feedback and data-driven experimentation

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Up to 10-15% travel may be required
