Because at Solventum, we never stop solving for you.The Impact You'll Make in this RoleAs a Senior R&D Engineer, Anatomical Modeling in the Central R&D Product Informatics and Modeling group, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:Modeling how healthcare products, including negative pressure wound therapy systems, IV securement dressings, wound care dressings, and medical tapes, behave while in use on the human bodyCreating in silico simulations to expand our understanding of how our products impact patients' livesInterfacing with scientists, engineers, nurses, and human factors at the intersection of product design & development, usability, clinical studies and application engineering to design and improve our products for better patient outcomesSupporting innovation and project teams for feasibility, efficacy and safety from ideation to commercializationAuthoring internal and external publications, including regulatory submission supportCollaborating with senior scientists, engineers and R&D leadership to determine future directions and advancements of modeling & simulation workflowsYour Skills and ExpertiseTo set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution.Ten (10) years of computational modeling and simulation experience in an academic, industry, or government laboratory.ORMaster's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution.Eight (8) years of computational modeling and simulation experience in an academic, industry, or government laboratory.ORPh.D degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution.Six (6) years of experience in an academic, industry, or government laboratory.Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:Ph.D. in Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Engineering or related discipline with a focus on computational simulations.Ten 10) years of computational modeling and simulation experience in an academic, industry, or government laboratory.Experience documenting and collaborating on computational evidence for regulatory submissions.Experience modeling soft tissue biomechanics including but not limited to healthy and damaged skin and vasculature.Experience in kinematic modeling of human anatomy.Thorough comprehension of how mechanical measurements are used to develop material models and mechanical simulations including computational fluid dynamics and finite element analysis.Experience working with anatomical FEA or CFD simulations and virtual cohorts.Strong communication skills and ability to solve complex engineering problems.Strong modeling aptitude with a proven ability to apply fundamental engineering knowledge and judgement.Work location: Maplewood, MN (Hybrid)Travel: May include up to 10% domesticRelocation Assistance: May be authorizedMust be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).Supporting Your Well-being3M offers many programs to help you live your best life - both physically and financially.
