Because at Solventum, we never stop solving for you.The Impact You'll Make in this RoleAs a Mechanical Engineer in the Central R&D Product Informatics and Modeling group, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:Collaborating with scientists & engineers to evaluate healthcare products and componentsExecuting prioritized laboratory tasks including instrument set up & calibration, sample preparation, testing to specifications, data collection & aggregation, and statistical analysisContributing to validation of test methods and instrument set ups including across sitesImplementing best lab practices at the intersection of mechanical materials testing, computational simulations, and data scienceContribute to the development of new test methods with mechanical design & prototypingThoroughly documenting and reporting results in both electronic and written formatCompleting work with little supervision and working well in a teamYour Skills and ExpertiseTo set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution.Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:Bachelor's degree or higher in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science & Engineering, Polymer Science or Engineering, or related fieldMaster's degree with emphasis on mechanical testing and properties of materialsTwo (2) years of experience in an academic, industry, or government laboratoryExperience working with mechanical measurements including ASTM and ISO standardsExperience with sample preparation, statistical methods and data collectionExperience with setting up and running mechanical test methods including but not limited to tensile and elongation, compression, rheology, peel and impact testingExperience developing test methods, standard operating procedures for those test methods and measurement systems analysisAbility to follow standard operating procedures and to contribute to their developmentComprehension of how mechanical measurements are used to develop material models and mechanical simulations including computational fluid dynamics and finite element analysisStrong problem-solving and communication skills, including documentation of workWork location: Maplewood, MN (on site)Travel: May include up to 10% domesticRelocation Assistance: May be authorizedMust be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).Supporting Your Well-being3M offers many programs to help you live your best life - both physically and financially.
