Responsibilities
The primary role of this position is to collect and receive specimens for processing in the lab following the policies and procedures of the department. Additional responsibilities would include answering phones, ordering testing and preparing samples for sending out to reference labs.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
Interpret laboratory labels for blood collection
Perform venipunctures, capillary punctures to include heelsticks and fingersticks
Collect blood cultures aseptically
Utilize all collection devices including syringes, vacutainers and needles
Order tests in the LIS system
Clean and stock drawing areas and trays
Communicating with patients, providers and co-workers
Prepare samples and paperwork to send out to reference lab
Follow infection control practices according to policy
Perform waived testing
Other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred
Phlebotomy certification or experience
Pay Range
$17.33 - $23.08 /hour
