The State University of New York's Advancing Completion through Engagement (ACE) program at Farmingdale State College is an exciting new initiative that provides holistic services for college students who have demonstrated financial need. The primary goal of ACE is to help students earn a bachelor's degree on time.

After a highly successful program launch in Spring 2024, Farmingdale State College currently seeks a part-time ACE Success Coach. The part-time ACE Success Coach is a member of an integrated team providing individual academic, career, and personal support to an assigned group of students as they progress through the program. Reporting to the inaugural ACE Director, the part-time Success Coach is responsible for implementing advisement services, facilitating special events, and supporting recruitment efforts.

The part-time Success Coach will provide key contributions to promote the continued growth and success of the ACE program at Farmingdale State College. The ideal candidate will possess four years of academic advisement experience or a master's degree in a relevant discipline and two years of academic advisement experience. This position will have a work schedule of 3-4 days/week for a total of 20 hours.

Primary Duties:

  • Delivers comprehensive advisement support services to an assigned group of students through degree completion

  • Reviews student progress and tracks student use of academic support services

  • Supports annual recruitment of new students into the program

  • Maintains accurate tracking data and notes for each assigned student, recommending appropriate referrals and opportunity programs

  • Conducts regular outreach to faculty and other college staff to support student success

  • Assists with special events and programs for students, faculty and staff

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements:

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an academic discipline or related field (e.g., counseling, social work)

  • Strong understanding of the needs of first-year and transfer college students

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed

  • Strong organization, project management and facilitation skills

  • Ability to enter, monitor and interpret student data accurately

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in an academic discipline or related field (e.g., counseling, social work)

  • Experience serving as an academic advisor or counselor in Higher Education

  • Experience working well with faculty and administration

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Strong computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office, and aptitude to learn new systems as needed

  • Bilingual preferred

    Additional Information:

  • This is a part-time professional staff position. Weekend or evening work may be required as needed.
