The University of Miami School of Law, Office of Student Affairs, has a great opportunity for a Senior Program Coordinator to work at the Coral Gables Campus.

The Senior Program Coordinator will provide critical functions to the Student Affairs Team. The Senior Program Coordinator will be a student-centered professional, dedicated to improving the quality of life of our students at Miami Law by efficiently managing the finances of our Student Affairs Team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Student Organizations:

University of Miami has approximately 60 student organizations, some of which have separate budgets that require regular monitoring and reconciliation. The Senior Program Coordinator would manage the financial affairs of the Law Activity Fee Allocation Committee (LAFAC), which meets biweekly. The Senior Program Coordinator is responsible for taking official minutes of the LAFAC meetings and ensuring that that all funds are spent as per the committee approval. The Senior Program Coordinator would also manage the budget of the Student Bar Association, and assist the Director of Programs in managing the budget for the five law reviews, the Papy Moot Court Board and the International Moot Court Board. Timely reconciliation of event expenditures is expected in order to ensure adherence to pre-approved event budgets and prompt payment of expenditures by and to internal and external partners. Assist in collecting and processing voluntary activity fees from the members of the law review and moot courts. The Senior Program Coordinator would also support our other student organizations, many of which do not have earmarked funds, but which regularly have activities or events that may require financial support from the Law School.

The Senior Program Coordinator will provide programmatic support as needed for events including the Law Review Symposia and major networking and affinity group events.

Student Life

The Senior Program Coordinator would assist with the planning and implementation for Student Affairs events and projects, including but not limited to Orientation, Commencement, Student Engagement Activities Fall Wellness Week, and Spring Bar Week. This position will also manage all purchasing and payment for these events. The Senior Program Coordinator will interface and support law students who have pre-approved travel for school-related purposes, ensuring that hotel, registration, and travel is properly booked and reimbursed in accordance with UM protocols. In some cases, this includes domestic or international travel for Moot Court and other student activities.

Technology and Communications

The Senior Program Coordinator would be expected to use social networking technology and blogs as appropriate to improve communications with the student body about UM procedures and protocols. This includes making efficient use of UM systems to improve the student experience and streamline the delivery of services.

The Senior Program Coordinator supports Communications to students and on behalf of student organizations. The includes using Canva to design flyers for student events, global emails to the student body on initiatives and programs for the Student Affairs Team, and using the Cascade system to update content and photographs on the student areas of the UM Law School website on a regular basis.

The Senior Program Coordinator organizes the Thursday Legal Grounds program, including sending out promotional emails to the student body, coordinating the coffee and bagels orders, and being available each week to set up and staff the event. This event is a critical student engagement initiative that allows us to highlight UM and Law School programs to the law school student body.

The Senior Program Coordinator manages the law school food pantry, which addresses critical food insecurity in our law student population. This includes ordering food, managing the emergency funds which subsidize this initiative and weekly checking on the stocking of the pantry.

Other Duties as Assigned

As a critical member of the Student Affairs Team, the Senior Program Coordinator may be required to assist as needed with Orientation, Commencement, Exams, or other special programs or projects for our Student Affairs Team or law students.

Education/Experience:

High School and minimum three years’ related experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Position requires significant experience with UM purchasing systems. The Senior Program Coordinator should have the Super User Certification in Workday or be prepared to work towards that certification within 6 months of employment. Knowledge of the University of Miami Coral Gables campus is a plus. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, excellent customer service skills, careful attention to detail, and the ability to multitask are essential. Excellent oral and written skills and financial and computer literacy are required. Must also be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
