The role you’ll contribute:

The Specialty Pharmacy Supervisor is responsible for a wide range of activities regarding the Specialty Pharmacy Program for Rx Plus Pharmacy and Expedien Rx Pharmacy. This position coordinates the day-to-day assignments and activities for a team of remote and onsite pharmacists and technicians to ensure daily tasks are being conducted to meet the pharmacy’s goals. The Specialty Pharmacy Supervisor oversees the intake, claims adjudication, prior authorization coordination and patient management processes to ensure service standards are met and patients receive consistent care. The position trains and manages members of the Specialty Pharmacy team and is required to understand all pharmacy processes and positions. The Specialty Pharmacy Supervisor resolves issues including escalations and customer complaints. Provides education to Specialty Pharmacy Staff, enforces departmental and pharmacy policies, and initiates development plans as needed to assure regulatory compliance and optimal service standards.

  • Understands thoroughly the AdventHealth employee prescription plan and supports the prescription benefit account team by offering support and education when communicating with staff and physician office(s) on any questions regarding formulary coverages, eligibility, prior authorization, or general plan guidelines.

  • Maintains an awareness of plan related initiatives, quarterly prescription plan formulary coverage updates and offers support to staff and organizational team, as necessary.

  • Supports departmental and organizational Mission through appropriate use of resources, providing assistance to team members and management, accepting work or scheduled assignments and acts as a role model to the team to provide suggestions and creative ideas for performance improvement.

  • Provides staffing support and maintains knowledge and expertise in the specialty team tasks including prescription data entry, customer service operations, patient management program, and clinical pharmacist processes.

  • Supervises activities of assigned personnel to assure expected level of service daily, adjusting assignments and daily workflow to achieve desired service outcomes.

  • Serves as a point of escalation for calls requiring a higher degree of expertise or discretion to resolve customer issues and ensures timely resolution. Communicates with department Manager regarding any areas of concern for future service.

  • Conducts monthly one on ones with direct reports, reviews prescription quality indicators and overall performance. Works with department leaders to develop content and lead out on weekly team huddles.

  • Serves as day-to-day operational supervisor for the team, managing department scheduling and time off requests.

  • Maintains up to date knowledge in clinical, regulatory, and managed care areas.

  • Monitor productivity, financial, and quality metrics and provide reports as needed.

  • Responsible for performance management, engagement, and evaluation of assigned personnel.

  • Participate in new hire recruitment to evaluate those best qualifies and would best fit in with the organization.

  • Contribute to development and modification or department policies and procedures.

  • Represent department on interdisciplinary projects and initiatives, providing root cause analysis and audits as needed to facilitate continuous quality improvement.

  • Assumes duties of Specialty Pharmacy Manager in their absence as assigned.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by Specialty Pharmacy Manager or Senior Leadership.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an American Council of pharmacy Education accredited College of Pharmacy or foreign pharmacy graduate FPGEC certified by the NABP

  • 3 years as a practicing pharmacist

  • Certified Specialty Pharmacist (CSP) certification (may be obtained within the 1 st year of hire)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Previous experience in a supervisory position

  • Previous experience with specialty pharmacy, Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM), managed health care, or insurance company

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

  • Current, valid Florida Pharmacist license

  • Willing to obtain multiple state pharmacist licensures
