Job Description:

The UF Center for Advanced Spatial Biomolecule Research (CASBR) invites applications for a Scientist III position. CASBR is a world-class facility specializing in advanced spatial biology techniques, including MALDI imaging, multiplex proteomics, digital pathology, and hydrogen deuterium mass spectrometry to address complex biological questions. Our team supports and collaborates on research projects both within the University of Florida and with external national entities, focusing on understanding the spatial distribution of biomolecules in relation to metabolism and disease states such as cancer, dementia, fibrosis, and aging.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage multiple research projects simultaneously, ensuring milestones and objectives are met.

  • Collaborate with a large team of researchers and professionals to design and execute experimental studies.

  • Communicate complex scientific ideas and progress effectively to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.

  • Contribute to the development and submission of research proposals, grants, and manuscripts.

  • Supervise and mentor junior staff and students.

Expected Salary:

$60,000 - $80,000; commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field and seven years of experience or Master's degree in biology or a related field with five year of experience. Doctoral degree in biology or related field with two years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • A PhD or masters in Biochemistry, Neuroscience, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in managing large-scale research projects in a related discipline.

  • Strong record of scientific publications and presentations.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Exceptional ability to multitask and handle multiple projects simultaneously without compromising quality or efficiency.

  • Demonstrated project management skills with a keen attention to detail.

  • Strong work ethic and commitment to ethical research practices.

  • Mass spec experience is a desired but not required.
